Are you ready for a change?

I support a broad spectrum of clients to develop self-awareness and ease into acceptance in times of psychological, relational, and existential difficulty.

Specifically, my work is tailored to serve clients who are seeking:

  • An opportunity to better identify and understand their neurodivergent (ND) brains - both how they work, and how to work with them (with a particular focus on those with ADHD and/or Autism);

  • Support navigating the challenges inherent to operating as a ND person in a world designed for neurotypical (NT) people;

  • Support navigating the complex waters of open and non-monogamous/poly relationships;

  • A chance to learn about attachment styles, how past relationship patterns can move us into a place of being more securely attached and fulfilled in our partnerships; and

  • An inclusive, kink-aware/affirming, and body/sex-positive environment that is safe for growth.

Regardless of your identity or what you would like to accomplish through therapy, I will show up without judgment, and with  a commitment to authenticity and depth-oriented counseling, in a space for growth.

My goal is for our work to support you in discovering a new perspective on life that creates room (and tools!) for lasting change.

About Me

Hi! I'm Emily Ross-Johnson, a Registered Professional Counselor Associate in both Washington and Oregon, and I'm excited to meet you! I’m supervised by Justin Little, LMFT and Courtney Watson, MA, LPC.

I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent clients, particularly those who are ADHD and Autistic, LGBTQ+, and/or navigating non-monogamous relationships.

I believe we are all capable, through introspection and curiosity, of fostering our own values and improving our relationship with others as well as ourselves

I offer a compassionate, encouraging, safe, and empowering space for you to learn and grow.

In my former life, I have been an opera singer, an executive assistant, a whiskey sommelier, a bartender, and nothing brings me more joy than learning from and being connected to others.

I look forward to walking beside you on your journey of building an intentional and fulfilling life!

    ADHD & Autism Testing

    I offer testing and counseling services for adult clients with ADHD and/or Autism.

Autism Evaluation

I offer neurodiversity-affirming autism evaluations for adults. As an AuDHDer myself, I personally understand the challenges that integrating this identity can create when diagnosis is first given and I work to ensure that this process is both welcoming and compassionate.

I provide a free 20-minute Telehealth consultation appointment to offer information and field any initial questions. You may schedule this consultation by sending an email to email address at the bottom of this page with a consultation request and some general availability.

In addition to creating a neurodiversity-affirming environment in my practice, I am particularly interested in how autism is underdiagnosed in populations including women, people of color, and transgender and nonbinary individuals. I recognize how masking may have impacted developmental history and made autistic traits harder to identify.

These evaluations can be done over the course of 3-5 sessions, often at the beginning of starting our therapeutic sessions together, or at any time in our counseling journey together. I do not provide one-off evaluations outside the context of weekly therapy.

What can my evaluation be used for?

For most of my clients, they are seeking personal clarification and self-understanding. My assessment can offer validation of your lived experience, and create a fuller picture of yourself. It can also help further inform your care team, and can typically be used for work or school accommodations. It is best to check with your workplace or school directly if any specific credential is needed before beginning our evaluation. SSDI/disability benefits require an assessment from a doctoral-level clinical psychologist, and if that is what you are seeking, I am happy to refer you another provider who will fit the bill.

My Background

I am trained in neurodivergence-affirming autism assessment. I have completed the Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist Training with training from PhDs including Stephen Porges, Rebecca Sachs, Tamara Rosen, and Temple Grandin. I use the MIGDAS-2 Autism Assessment, which is a more narrative/story-based interview process, better-suited to adults who may be highly masked.

I offer neurodiversity-affirming ADHD evaluation for adults. This evaluation is helpful for those seeking personal clarification and self-understanding, and also to offer deeper understanding for your health care team. These evaluations are shorter than autism assessments, and typically take place within the context of our initial few visits.
